Following the Saloon and the Estate, the All-Terrain now follows as the third member of the E‑Class family. With 4MATIC all-wheel drive as standard and increased ground clearance – up to 46 mm higher than the classic Estate, even when fully loaded – the new E-Class All-Terrain is ideally equipped for light terrain such as country roads. AIRMATIC air suspension and an off-road driving programme also come as standard. Other practical details for the off-road driving experience include the off-road screen and the “transparent bonnet” as part of the 360-degree camera, which allows the central display to show a virtual view of the road ahead beneath the vehicle. This enables the driver to see obstacles such as large rocks or deep potholes better and earlier.
The striking look is typical of an all-terrain model. Off-road design elements include special bumpers and high-gloss front and rear optical underride guards. The distinctive dark grey matt radiator grille and wheel-arch trims also underline the character of the E-Class All-Terrain. At market launch, customers will be able to choose between diesel, petrol and, for the first time, a plug-in hybrid model. Prices start at 74,077.50 euros[1] for the E 220 d 4MATIC. The E-Class All-Terrain will be available from European dealerships in the first quarter of 2024.
New product strategy with extended standard equipment
The E-Class All-Terrain uses the same product strategy as the Saloon and the Estate models. Compared with the previous generation, the new E-Class comes with a significantly extended range of standard equipment. In Germany, this includes a metallic finish and flush-mounted door handles, as well as KEYLESS-GO and Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC. The standard offering for the German market also includes Blind Spot Assist, heated seats, the AVANTGARDE equipment line for the interior and exterior and the AVANTGARDE Advanced equipment package. Among other features, it includes LED headlights with adaptive High Beam Assist, 12.3-inch and 14.4-inch driver and central displays, as well as heated seats for the driver and front passenger. At the touch of a button, the rear seat folds down to expand the cargo area. Smartphones interface with the MBUX system and charge wirelessly while driving. The MBUX lets the driver access numerous apps from the Mercedes me Store and for example also participate in video conferences using the optional selfie and video camera. Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC and the rear-view camera make parking easier.
Like customers of other model series, buyers of the E-Class All-Terrain will also benefit from the new product strategy. It bundles frequently requested features into the AVANTGARDE Advanced and AVANTGARDE Advanced Plus packages, as well as the EXCLUSIVE Premium and EXCLUSIVE Premium Plus packages, all of which build on one another.
Customisation through the Mercedes me Store
The new E-Class All-Terrain also gives customers the option of activating a range of additional vehicle features as on-demand equipment via over-the-air technology (OTA). This means that some of the equipment can be adapted to the buyer’s personal preferences after purchase and the original new vehicle configuration. The on-demand equipment is available in the Mercedes me Store[3] as a one-time purchase or on a subscription basis. The range will be continuously expanded.
