car2go, the world market leader in free-floating, flexible car sharing, will also be offering its service in the French capital from the beginning of next year. At the launch of service, Parisians will have 400 all-electric smart EQ fortwos (power consumption, combined: 14.5 -12.9 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions, combined: 0 g/km)[1] at their disposal for flexible hire as needs arise. Several hundred more vehicles are to be added to the fleet in the course of 2019.
smart is bringing electric mobility to life in Europe's cities: After Amsterdam, Stuttgart and Madrid, Paris is the fourth city in which car2go will be offering an entirely electric fleet of vehicles. In future, Parisians will also be able to move around the city in all-electric mode with zero local emissions. To date, over 400,000 customers have already covered more than 70 million kilometres with zero emissions at the stated three electrified locations – equivalent to circumnavigating the globe 1750 times. In all, car2go has 3.4 million customers worldwide.

Paris ticks many of the boxes for the launch of a free-floating car sharing programme. The necessary conditions, which car2go analyses in detail ahead of a launch, include a city's size and population density, for example, as well as a well developed local public transport network and a well-balanced mix of work, leisure and living within the city districts.
